Grupo TRAGSA joins up the European Mobility Week

Almost two thousand European cities celebrate on September 16th to 22nd the European Mobility Week (EMW), promoting smart and sustainable mobility as an investment for Europe. Grupo TRAGSA supports EMW and contributes to the celebration of a Week of activities for Sustainable Mobility under the slogan “We move for sustainability” at the six cities on which are located the Group’s six main offices: Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia, Valladolid, Toledo and Seville.

Through the EMW, the European Commission seeks to transform the mobility paradigm which has dominated in the main cities of our Continent during the last century, and which has led to an increase in traffic congestion, high levels of atmospheric pollution, and to a reduction in the quality of the life of their citizens.

With this aim in mind, two goals were proposed: the removal of diesel vehicles from cities by 2050, and the “zero emissions” policy for urban centers from now to 2030, with the definition of four priority areas for 2016: Innovation, digitalization, decarbonization, and citizenship.

Sustainability and the efficient transport

Inspired by this year’s slogan, “Smart Mobility, Strong Economy”, the European Mobility Week is positioned in favor of sustainability and efficient transport, and seeks to raise the awareness about the positive effects which changing our mobility’s habits can have on our health. See the video.

The goal is contributing to raising the awareness about the environmental impact which has on our cities the current mobility habits and promoting the personnel’s participation through sustainable urban mobility initiatives: intermodal transport for commuting to work, the responsible use of the car, and the selection of the bicycle as an alternative mean of urban transport (an action recorded in the Best Practices Record of the European website within the category of “Mobility Actions”).

This campaign is part of the Group’s strategic line “Improving the working conditions for promoting sound and healthy environments” which is promoted by the implementation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan (PMS) of Grupo TRAGSA.

TRAGSA and Grupo SEPI

Grupo TRAGSA belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a workforce of more than 73,000 professionals in 2015; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in a further nine companies, and indirect shareholdings in more than one hundred companies.
