EMGRISA and ENUSA participate in the 10th anniversary of Activos Mineros de Perú
On July 12th, the companies Emgrisa and ENUSA took part in the 10th anniversary of the incorporation of the Peruvian state-owned company Activos Mineros S.A.C. (AMSAC) which took place at the Peruvian Institute for Mining Engineers.
AMSAC, which was incorporated in 2006, is a private-law state-owned company, which belongs to the mining industry and to the Corporación FONAFE (Fondo Nacional de Financiamiento de la Actividad Empresarial del Estado) and which has been promoting for the last 10 years socially responsible mining.
AMSAC’s main goal consists in restoring the mining liabilities which the State (Ministry of Energy and Mining, PROINVERSIÓN and FONAFE) and holding the liabilities already restored. It also manages and supervises the post-privatization undertakings assumed by the mining investors and, in turn, collaborates with the promotion of private investment in the State’s mining concessions.
Recognition paid to Emgrisa
Activos Mineros invited EMGRISA Peruvian Branch to take part in the event as a result of its being a company specialized in restoring former mining facilities. During the event, Mr. Fernando Lozano Martínez, ENUSA’s Environmental Manager, gave a speech on the company’s experience on restoring areas on which have taken place activities within the uriniferous mining industry.
Later a meeting of specialists was convened, which solved questions regarding the sustainability of the mining activity and the challenges faced by the industry in the future regarding the sustainability issue.
The event was attended by Ms. Rosario Patiño Marca, Advisor to the Ministerial Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mining and Chairperson of AMSAC; by Ms. Julia Justo Soto, Managing Director of FONAM; by Mr. Guillermo Shinno Huamaní, Deputy Minister of Mining; by Mr. Luis Egocheaga Young, General Manager of AMSAC; by Mr. Guillermo Median Cruz, the National Coordinator at the Better Gold Initiative, among others.
Mr. Lozano talked with all of them about the experience of the companies of Grupo ENUSA regarding the restoration of the lands on which took place mining activities.
Both for Emgrisa and for ENUSA taking part in this event means an acknowledgement of their activity and to the quality of their services, and allows them to know about the activity and repercussion of AMSAC’s function within the Peruvian mining industry and in the whole of Peruvian society.
ENUSA and Grupo SEPI
ENUSA belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a workforce of around 73,000 professionals in 2014; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in a further ten companies, and indirect shareholdings in more than one hundred companies.
