ENUSA plays host to the 29th meeting of the Managing Board of CEIDEN Technological Platform

21/06/2016 - Juzbado (Salamanca)
Press release ENUSA

The Managing Board of CEIDEN’s Technological Platform held its 29th meeting last Thursday June 16th at the nuclear fuel factory which ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas, S.A. has got in Juzbado (Salamanca).

In 1999 the Ministry of Industry and Energy set up the Strategic Commission on Nuclear R&D (CEIDEN) with the goal of promoting and coordinating collaboration initiatives in research and development programs within the Spanish nuclear industry; this Commission established in 2007 the Technological Platform on Fission Nuclear Energy (PT CEIDEN).

Since then, the PT CEIDEN has become a reference forum for the whole Spanish nuclear industry, where a common strategy is prepared with the goal of taking advantage of the many available capabilities, organizing new cooperation projects, and achieving a more efficient communication with domestic and European institutions within the R&D field.

Its executive body, the Managing Board, is chaired by Ms. Rosario Velasco, Deputy President of the Spanish Nuclear Safety Board (CSN), and has also as members a number of representatives from ministries and universities, electrical companies, Ciemat, ENSA, Enresa, engineering companies from the nuclear industry, Tecnatom and ENUSA.

Up to this date, a number of significant projects have been started, which span wide areas of interest for the nuclear industry, among which it is worthwhile to mention the following: The management of the spent nuclear fuel; the management of the useful life of the reactors’ materials; the new nuclear projects; the training and management of knowledge capabilities; the capabilities at R&D facilities; the simulation capabilities.

ENUSA has collaborated with CEIDEN since the creation of the latter as one of its most active members, leading some initiatives and taking part in most of the projects started. Several times it has been the host of the meeting of its Managing Board at its Madrid’s offices, and this time, in Salamanca, with the goal of offering the opportunity of visiting and getting to know the facilities at its Nuclear Fuel Factory.

During the visit to the Juzbado’s facilities were present representatives of CSN, Ciemat, Endesa, Gas Natural Fenosa, Enresa, ENSA, GNF Ingeniería, Minetur, Tecnalia, UPM and UPNA. The technical visit raised a high level of interest and of appreciation of ENUSA’s technological capabilities.
