AGENCIA EFE: Dalí and journalism, at the Museo EFE with the exhibition “Dalí, breaking news”
The figure of the painter Salvador Dalí and journalism, which along the years showed the apparitions of the genial artist, born in the Ampurdán region, have been put together in the exhibition “Dalí, breaking news”, which will be inaugurated this Wednesday in Madrid at Museo EFE, the House of News.
The exhibition makes a review of Dalí’s presence in the press, and does it so making use of a journal-like structure, through six sections which range from Politics to Society, the Media and even Science, one of the fields to which the Ampurdanés applied his talent.
The goal sought is showing through photographs from AGENCIA EFE’s graphical archive that the most symbolic painter from Surrealism appeared on the news regarding his art, but also in all the other fields of the breaking news which are habitually covered by a communication medium.
The provincial Government of Girona (Diputación de Girona) and the Tourism Board Costa Brava belong to the organization which promotes the exhibition, which is made up by 26 photographs of Salvador Dalí, besides a further half hundred photographs which will be displayed on an interactive screen.
AGENCIA EFE’s CEO, Mr. José Antonio Vera, and the President of the Diputación de Girona, Mr. Pere Vila, will inaugurate the exhibition this Wednesday together with representatives from the Tourism Board Costa Brava, which will attend the event in Spain’s capital city.
Dalí, breaking news
“Dalí, breaking news” shows through photographs that Dalí was a multifaceted figure which spanned all the fields of the Society of his time and who always knew how to capture the journalists’ attention.
The dramatic way in which he always appeared before photographers generated unique photos, but his fame has endured twenty seven years after his death, and this is shown by the selection of photographs which from this Wednesday will be displayed at Museo EFE, the House of News.
The success of the exhibitions made during the last few years in Paris, Madrid or in Brazil (Sao Paulo and Río de Janeiro) confirm the validity of Salvador Dalí’s figure, but so do the continuous visits of world famous figures to his Teatro-Museo in Figueres, Spain.
Besides the exhibition “Dalí, breaking news”, the painter appears in a number of places in the world, such as New York, Venice, or Cannes thus proving that his genius was recognized all over the world.
The personalities which appear together with Salvador Dalí also contribute to promoting Salvador Dalí’s legend, who appears on photographs side by side with Spain’s King Juan Carlos I and with Walt Disney, besides of artists of his time from different fields.
The exhibition, which is sponsored by Abertis and in which the curator is the delegate of AGENCIA EFE in the province of Gerona, Mr. David Álvarez, displays a special design which has been exclusively created for this stay at the Museo EFE.
