The farming estate La Dehesa de Castilseras (MAYASA) joins the European network Wild Life Estates

29/12/2015 - Madrid
Press release MAYASA

The management applied to the farming estate La Dehesa de Castilseras (MAYASA) and the verification of the preservation of its outstanding natural features, as well as the promotion of its biodiversity have resulted in the inclusion of this estate into the exclusive list of 160 instances of an excellent management, Wild Life Estates, within the European Union.

The Quality Label Wildlife Estates was created in 2007 in order to acknowledge and reward the sustainable management of the environment in those territories for which it is a priority the preservation and promotion of their biodiversity.

The WE label acts in response to those factors which endanger European habitats (such as the fall into neglect of traditional land uses, urbanization, the transformation of the production systems, pollution, climate change, the encroachment of alien species, etc.).

Up to now the Spanish chapter was represented by a total of 67 estates, which in total cover more than 260,000 Hectares, which had already won the quality label Wildlife Estates as recognition of the environmental management which is carried out in them.

Dehesa de Castilseras

Recently, MAYASA has launched a website for making known the natural wealth in this estate, La Dehesa de Castilseras, which is located in the municipality of Almadenejos (Ciudad Real), as well as all the leisure and sports in the open on offer.

Among its main attractions stand out the following:

MAYASA belongs to Grupo SEPI, a corporate holding which includes a total of 16 state-owned companies in which it has direct, majority shareholding participations, with a final workforce of more than 73,000 professionals in 2014; the Spanish state-owned television and radio corporation, Corporación Radiotelevisión Española, which is attached to SEPI, and one public foundation. Equally, SEPI has direct minority shareholdings in a further ten companies, and indirect shareholdings in more than one hundred companies.
