The Ibero-American General Secretariat and SEPI sign an agreement for transferring the scholarships program into the activities of the Ibero-American Summit
The Ibero-American General-Secretary, Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, and the Chairman of SEPI and of the Board of Trustees of Fundación SEPI, Mr. Ramón Aguirre, signed this morning a collaboration agreement between Fundación SEPI and the SEGIB with the aim of transferring the scholarships program to the activities carried out within the Ibero-American Summit.
During the formal ceremony, which took place at the offices of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, Mr. Aguirre described as “significant” this agreement, both for Fundación SEPI and for Ibero-America and for the young graduates as a result of integrating the scholarships program within the universal area in which both Spanish and Portuguese are spoken. “It is a satisfaction for me being able to contribute and being part of the start of the life project of the young graduates”, he added.
Mr. Aguirre also highlighted the important role played by Fundación SEPI since its origins in 1964 through, mostly, the Hall of Residence and the scholarships program. For the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fundación SEPI, “the Hall of Residence has been promoting since its beginnings young people’s access to higher studies, and it has become both a promoter of cultural education and an excellent meeting point for discussing ideas in cultural, political, and scientific fields”.
With regard to the scholarships program, Mr. Aguirre stressed “the acknowledgement which they enjoy due to their high training level and for the significance of the companies which take part in it, and for the distinction which they enjoy thanks to their excellence and for their vocation for introducing the scholarship holders into the labor market”.
In this sense, he recalled that the scholarships program, which has been operating since the 1980s, has collaborated to introducing more than 18,000 university graduates into the labor market, through their practical training in first-level companies, most of them listed on the stock market index IBEX 35. Mention must be made in this respect that only during this year 2015, Fundación SEPI has managed a total of 635 scholarships, which entail the follow-up and control of the performance of the scholarship holders in those companies.
“This successful formula is the one which from today will be officially included into the activities on which will focus the next Ibero-American Conference of Heads of State and Government, which will take place next year in Colombia. With today’s signature we integrate the scholarships program, the transfer of knowledge and the management experience into the activities, programs and projects of the Ibero-American Summit”, he stated.
Finally, SEPI’s Chairman expressed his gratitude to Ms. Grynspan, and he said that he felt proud that such a prestigious international organization as the Ibero-American General Secretariat had noticed the singularity of the scholarships program of Fundación SEPI and included it into the activities of the Ibero-American Summit. “Let us hope that initiatives like this one contribute to bringing countries closer together, sharing the knowledge and consolidating a shared and more prosperous future”, he concluded.
