SEPI’s Chairman highlights the actions carried out at DEFEX as a result of the Angora case
The Chairman of the state-owned industrial holding company Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI), Mr. Ramón Aguirre, has highlighted the many actions carried out by SEPI at DEFEX since the so-called Angora case was known; this case involves the signing of a contract with Angola in 2008 in which took part the state-owned company DEFEX, in which the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales has a shareholding participation.
After the questions made by the Parliamentarian groups, Mr. Aguirre informed in detail that, at SEPI’s request, DEFEX had withdrawn the powers to the persons accused, the replacement of these two managers, and the appointment of a new corporative manager with the goal of promoting and improving the day-to-day running of the company. Furthermore, a new person in charge of legal affairs will be appointed immediately.
Equally, Mr. Aguirre has reiterated, in his capacity as the highest ranking officer in the corporate state-owned holding his trust on Justice and the outmost collaboration on the part of SEPI for clarifying this probe.
Finally, as was already announced, he recalled that SEPI, together with the State Lawyer, is considering its being party to this case, the possible legal proceedings for the defense of the public interest, and the taking of supplementary audit measures in the Company for completing the internal informative proceedings which has been opened.
