Splendid victory of Friné at the Premio Teresa at HZ
More than three thousand one hundred persons came today, May 18th to HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA for having fun, spending a nice spring evening, and enjoying the five horse races which made up the program.
The Premio Teresa in the fifth race was the most important contest, in which all aficionados were enthusiastic about Friné’s splendid victory. The mare from the stable Cuadra Duque de Alburquerque won without showing the least problem that it reappeared after a six-month hiatus, nor giving up kilograms to her rivals, as she carried the heaviest weight in the scale. She was led by Jeremy Crocquevieille all the time on the third position, until when only 300 meters remained before the finish line she got ahead and easily won, proving that she is well above the other participants.
After her came, almost five lengths behind, Bhohemian Rhapsody and Infinity One, who held a close fight. Joanes Osorio, as her trainer, said at the end of the race that he does not yet know whether she will dispute the Gran Premio de Madrid or whether she will participate in a Group race in France.
Jeremy Crocquevieille closed the evening as he had began it, with a victory, as he won the first race with Collio Side, replacing Diego Sarabia. The trainer Francisco Rodríguez also scored a twin victory, as he won in the second race with Lince, and in the third with Proud Side.
Results of the other four races
The horse from the stable Cuadra Río Cubas had a good victory in the Premio Familia Galdeano of the first race. Collio Side, run on the last position, and when he entered into the home straight he took the lane on the inner railing and had a spectacular change in his rhythm, and with each stride he increased his advantage on his opponents. He won his fifth victory with ease, this time under the recent training of Oscar Anaya. Three lengths behind him came Rey de la Plata, and a further two lengths behind arrived Minolto.
In the second race, the Premio XTB – Tote, the favorite Lince imposed himself, from the starting line to the finish line, rode by Matías Borrego, thus achieving his third victory in this year 2014. The horse from the stable Cuadra Adelai took the head at the start, and he finished on this position, but having to put a strong fight during the last few meters with Tío Luis, as they were just one throat apart, and two lengths ahead of Mayo. No. 4 Black Dibel did not run.
In the third race, the Premio Homenaje a Isidoro Gómez – Hunting Star, the winner was Proud Side, who showed the great courage which she had. The horse from the stable Cuadra Di Benisichi took the control of the race, led by Ricardo Sousa, and did not allow anybody to take it from her, winning with an incredible show of strength and overtaking Dublín Maura by three lengths. The third place went to Ketala, and Nigress did not run.
In the race for the Lototurf bet Notario stood out against all the other contestants, winning the Premio Asociación de Márketing de España – Gran Vía. Running o the middle of the track, he reached the finish line almost three lengths ahead of Balabindu. The horse trained by Teo Callejo was rode by Vaclav Jana?ek, who pointed out at the end of the race that he had had a very difficult race, but that in the end he recovered and when he took over Balbindu he rose to the challenge, winning with ease. Literario arrived third. Rea Silvia and Montello did not take part.
Takings and bets
The takings at HZ’s box offices reached 77,768 €, and the single bet with the highest payout was for the winner of the third race, which awarded 11.3 € for 1 € wagered. The winning combination for the Quíntuple Plus today Sunday May 18th, is made up by the following numbers: 1 – 1 – 5 – 1 – 1 – 5.
Next week, on Sunday May 25th, takes place the sixteenth race meeting of the spring season at the horse racetrack Hipódromo de La Zarzuela, in which stands out the Premio Beamonte – Oaks Español, as the most important race. The first race will start at 04:30 pm.
