14/05/2014 - Madrid
Press release HIPODROMO DE LA ZARZUELA

This week we will also have the opportunity of enjoying two race meetings at HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA, on Thursday May 15th, San Isidro day, which is a holiday in Madrid, and on Sunday 18th. At both race meetings the first race will begin at 4:30 pm. Leisure and spectacle combined, so that everybody can enjoy a unique place in the capital where having fun and lunching, making their reservations at 659 97 53 02 / 638 76 68 94. The price of the admission ticket is of 5 Euros for adults and free for those less than 14 years old, and they can be purchased online through HZ’s website.

Besides, on Saturday and Sunday, there will be an exhibition of US motorbikes, such as the classic Harley Davidson among others, together with a Vintage flea market, which will constitute a unique event, the so-called Iron Horse, which may be visited from 11:00 am. On Saturday admission will be free.On Thursday the main contest will be the Premio San Isidro (C-category) on the fifth race.

It will be a 1,200-meter sprint on a straight line, which we are sure will constitute a splendid spectacle, taking into account that we will see on HZ’s turf horses as Valiant Blue, who is in a very good shape and who records several triumphs this year; Acamante, who has also won in 2014 and who is always fearsome; and Holy Ireland, who faces for the first time this distance, but who has just won and carries the less weight.

Also at the starting gates will be Otro Gintonic, who can be dangerous, but reappears after a nine-month long inactivity, Lolita Pluma, Dubai Spring and Sarah Berry.

The races’ program

Emotion will already begin in the first race in the evening, with the Premio Precoz, in which the protagonists will be two-year old colts who have never won, with six pretenders, of which four are debutants, and among them we highlight the debut of Noozhoh Canarias’ sister.

All aficionados have our eyes on Corazón Canarias since, according to the persons who are in charge of him, he is of the highest quality. They will run 900 meters on a straight line, and perhaps the strongest contender of the favorite is Vamos España, who achieved a good second place in her debut; the second, the Premio Héctor Licudi, will be a 103 reference handicap for horsewomen and gentlemen on a 2,000 meter distance and with seven contenders on the track, in which Capitán Drake and Sir Alfil will have the opportunity of being the twin.

In the third race the Premio Andrés Ramos Covarrubias will be contested as a race which counts toward the world championship of la Fegentri for gentlemen. A total of seven participants will dispute the victory, with the participation of Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Spain; among them starts as favorite Brindos, but Coside must not be forgotten, who might give the victory to the Spaniard Diego Sarabia, and mention must be made also of Linkable, rode by Nicolás de Julián; on the fourth race, which will be the basis of the horse racing bet Lototurf, the Premio Santiago Galaz, a handicap will be contested on a 1,200 meter straight line, and ten three-year old colts and fillies will fight for the triumph; among them stand out Honeymoon Beach and Emperors Song, both of which have won the last races in which they took part, although perhaps it is Kuai the rival to beat.

On Sunday Friné returns to racing in the most important race in the evening, the Premio Teresa (C-category) run on a 2,200 meter distance. The mare of Duque de Alburquerque – who was the brilliant winner in France of the Prix Fille de L’Air (3-group) – has not run for six months; even thus, she is the favorite for winning the race for her great quality. The experts have their eyes on her, as they expect a great reappearance, but some of her rivals will put up a fight, as is the case of Bohemian Rhapsody, who has just won beating some of the other contenders, or Infinity One, who has already ran once this year. Baby Cookie, Barañaín, Tafadhali, Maya de Ventura and Beautiful Spirit, will be the other participants.

The Premio Familia Galdeano will open the race meeting, in which will be contested the first part of the handicap on a 1,800 meter distance, with five contenders, among which could repeat his victory Collio Side, and for the triple Rey de la Plata and Minolto; the latter reappears for this year; seven participants will contend for the second, the Premio XTB – Tote, on a ,.500 meter distance, which perhaps will be the opportunity for Tío Luis, together with Lince.

At the third race homage will be paid to the recently retired trainer Isidoro Gómez in the Premio Hunting Star for mares who run one mile. Here the favorite is Dublín Maura, although the representatives from the stable Cuadra Di Benisichi, Proud Side and Lady Revel – the latter in her first race of the year - are also liked; the race for the Lototurf will be the Premio Asociación de Marketing de España – Gran Vía, the second part of the divided handicap, in which Notario will have his opportunity, with the heaviest weight, while on the other side of the scale is Balabindu, also with options.
