Poti imposed himself at the Premio Comunidad de Madrid, a preparatory race for the Premio Beamonte at HZ
The twelfth race meeting of the spring season at HIPÓDROMO DE LA ZARZUELA was attended by two thousand four hundred visitors, who were able to enjoy a perfect plan for Mother’s Day. There was a very pleasant temperature in the evening while the five horse races which made up the program were disputed.
In the fifth race it was the turn for the three-year old fillies at the prize Premio Comunidad de Madrid which was won by Poti, in a race which was led by One Chance practically up to the finish line. The filly from the stable Cuadra Paganini held a comfortable third position all race long, until in the middle of the home straight her jockey José Luis Martínez launched his attack and placed her beside One Chance with which a contest took place up to the finish line, beating her by less than a half length. With this victory, Poti has won the place for being one of the contenders for the prize Premio Beamonte, as confirmed her trainer Teo Callejo. The third at the podium was Dim Dam, five lengths behind the first two classified.
In the prize Premio Andrés Covarrubias of the second race, it was Mil Azul who won again the award which he obtained in 2013 with an overwhelming victory. Manhaj led the pack, opening a three-length gap before Karetas, which galloped on second place, while the horse from the stable Yeguada Ordiñ-Oriyá was second to last. Led by the jockey José Luis Martínez, he began his progression little by little on the home straight and, 200 meters before the finish line he won very easily, achieving a splendid triumph for his trainer Enrique León, who besides completed the winning twin with Cielo Canarias, almost four lengths behind. Manhaj managed to put himself on the third position at the winners’ podium. No. 6 Mr. Mean did not run.
The jockey from Madrid, José Luis Martínez was again at the top of the records thanks to the three victories which he achieved this evening. Besides those won with Mil Azul and with Poti, he added another with Monsieur Opera in the third race, putting himself on the first position with twenty victories.
Another three horse races completed the evening
The prize Premio Serial in the first race left as the winner the favorite from the stable Cuadra Albero, trained by Guillermo Arizcorreta and rode by Vaclav Jana?ek. Mind, who was the last during the race, attacked from the outside of the track until overtaking Brigantia, who always led the pack by the running rail, and Captain Moonlite, who run on the middle of the track. They arrived in this order in a close fight which took place along the last 300 meters.
Monsieur Opera achieved the victory in the prize Premio Indian Prince of the third race. Also from behind, the horse trained by Salvador Márquez managed to put himself ahead through a gap in the middle of the track and won with ease, overtaking Neso by two lengths and Dos Tumbos by four lengths, which had already left Likelikelikeliketit well behind them; Likelikelikeliketit had been at the head until 200 meters before the finish line. The horse trained by Bábara Valenti, rode by the jockey José Luis Martínez, thus achieved his third victory. No. 8 Wayahachie did not run.
And in the prize Premio Gonzalo de Lucas for the Lototurf race, the surprise corresponded to the filly from the stable Cuadra Alisares, no. 11 Next To Me, who obtained her first recorded victory. Tolo Gelabert achieved his first triumph as trainer at Hipódromo de La Zarzuela, and Ingrid Jana?kova, inaugurated her particular record for 2014. She was just one head behind Charlito, with whom she held a very close fight until she managed to overtake him, and the favorite Lamuza arrived third.
This fourth race awarded the biggest payout of the meeting with the triple bet (11 – 6 – 3), which was paid at 973.50 €. The total takings at the box offices reached 77,795 €. The winning combination at the Quíntuple Plus of today Sunday May 4th, is made up by the following combination: 1 – 4 – 1 – 11 – 5 – 4.
Races at La Castellana
Next Sunday May 11th there will be at the avenue Paseo de la Castellana four exhibition races from 11:00 am, about which we will provide more detailed information in the following days. And at 4:30 pm, already at the Hipódromo de La Zarzuela, the thirteenth race meeting of the spring season will be disputed.
Hipódromo de La Zarzuela is part of the state-owned historical heritage Patrimonio Histórico Nacional, and its grandstands are regarded as one of the masterpieces of Madrid’s architecture of the twentieth century. The facility covers 110 Hectares with a great ecological value – the equivalent to ten football stadiums – and first-level facilities, whose privileged location within the city make that Madrid’s horse racetrack in the most important green lung of Spain’s capital, together with the historical park of El Retiro.
