4th anniversary of the start of Enresa’s work at Zorita
This Tuesday will be the fourth anniversary since on February 11th, 2010 at 1:00 pm ENRESA became the holder of the nuclear power plant 'José Cabrera' for beginning its dismantling process. After this time, the project is already halfway, and some of the most important milestones have already been reached, such as the segmentation under the water of the reactor’s core components, their preparation in situ and their shipment to the storage facility at El Cabril.
Now, most of the work is focused on the containment building, in which continues the dismantling of the coolant circuit (main pump, steam generator). Besides, the underwater segmentation of the reactor’s vessel head has already begun. Together with these initial works on the vessel head, currently are taking place preparatory activities aimed at making possible the vessel’s removal and transport to the spent fuel pit for its later cutting.
The work for the dismantling of the nuclear power plant “José Cabrera” have taken place normally during this period, without incidences and according to the program set, and it has become the focus of international interest for the industry’s technical and scientific community.
