The above resolution stipulated “the transfer of all the shares held by the General Administration and which represent the whole social capital of the postal and telegraphic state-owned enterprise Sociedad Estatal de Correos y Telégrafos to the state-owned enterprise Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales SEPI”.

The decision to incorporate the Post Office and Telegraphs into a state-owned enterprise was taken through Act 14/2000 on December 29th, on Application of the State Budget.

In compliance with that stipulated in that Act, the Council of Ministers in the meeting held on June 22nd, 2001 resolved to transform the public state entity Correos y Telégrafos into a State-Owned Enterprise with a social capital wholly-owned by the State and the exclusive participation of the State. On June 29th, 2001 the public deed of incorporation of the Sociedad Estatal Correos y Telégrafos, S.A. was converted into a public document before a public notary.
