The tobacco contracting of the 2010 season
The Compañía Española de Tabaco en Rama ( CETARSA) has closed the contracting for the 2010 Season after signing the contracts with the Associations of Farm Producers. The volume of contracted tobacco for the different varieties has experienced a 10% increase in comparison with the figure for last Season, and it includes the production of over 2,000 tobacco growers.
CETARSA wishes to acknowledge the trust put again by the growers on the Company, and congratulate everybody by the constructive environment in which took place the contracting process with all the Associations of Farm Producers.
The contract figures and the price tables for the different tobacco varieties reflect the Company's commitment to answer to the trust put on it with the greatest financial effort possible in order to face the next Season in the best terms and conditions, once the new regulatory framework has come into force, and which entails the disappearance of the aid linked to the production. The agreements reached represent a sound basis for the future development of the industry from this new situation.
CETARSA also wishes to express its gratitude to the work carried out by the regional government of Extremadura, which has played a key role in guaranteeing the feasibility of the activity of the whole industry.
Finally, CETARSA makes a call to all those concerned, so that all of us carry on with the efforts required for improving the quality and competitiveness of Spanish tobacco, as the best guarantee for its future and that of the producing regions.
