INFORMATION ABOUT TRAGSA

It is made up by a group of companies specialized in rural development, in the preservation of Nature and in supplying emergency services.

Tragsa and its affiliated companies are the own instrumental mean of the Central Government, as well as of each autonomous regional government which so requires. They must carry out the works and activities which the Administration requires of them on the matters which constitute their corporate purpose.

The Tragsa Group's identity and its own being are the result of the combination of three elements: the supply of basic services for the development of the countryside and for environmental protection, with very small and diffused actions, the corporate management of its activity, and its condition as a tool for the Administration. That is the basis of some of its more appreciated and fundamental characteristics and capacities:

It is established on the territory, and it is present all over Spain, commanding technical and operative capacity in all its sites.

The necessary skill, which law requires of it, for carrying out all the technical and operative works which are given to it.

Efficacy and capacity to face and solve emergency situations.

Tragsacec occupies an important position in cutting-edge engineering and consulting, thanks to the development and the use of the latest technologies, especially in its direct application to the knowledge and the use of the territory and to the management of its resources. All that is applied both in studies and projects as well as in technical services, which require a territorial presence.

Tragsega, for its part, carries out an important function within the area of the security of the food, being specialized in actions for cattle raising and in animal health, and is dedicated to the integral fight against animal illnesses, to the rationalization and control of the cattle farms and industries, applying the information technologies into this sector, and carrying out an innovative research and development line.

Activity of the company in year 2009:

During 2009, the agribusiness and environmental industry has maintained a strong level of activity, thanks to the growing demand for environmental solutions, animal health, technologies applied to the management of farm resources, and the optimization in the use of water resources, with the completion of the Irrigation Plan and 57% of the E Plan from the Administration for stimulating the Economy and employment.

The Grupo TRAGSA, thanks to its being present in practically all the autonomous regions in Spain, can offer an efficient, fast and flexible answer with advanced means in any location in the country, performing multiple services, especially for facing emergency situations.

The orders received in 2009 reached the amount of 1,545 Million Euros, of which 68% correspond to TRAGSA, while the remainder corresponds to its affiliated companies TRAGSATEC and TRAGSEGA. TRAGSA's most significant projects correspond to environmental activities, farming infrastructures, irrigation and water technology, and rural infrastructures. In TRAGSATEC, to maritime, fishing, and rural development issues, while in TRAGSEGA to animal production and health, stockbreeding health, traceability and project-support.

In this way, the order book at the end of the year amounted to 1,396 Million Euros, of which 226 Million Euros corresponded to projects of the E Plan, which will be carried out in 2010.

For the Grupo TRAGSA the financial year has been positive, due to the activity performed and the level of profits obtained. The consolidated turnover of the Grupo TRAGSA, 1,556 Million Euros, recorded a 4% improvement against the previous year, with an increase in the number of activities in most of the autonomous regions. The most significant activities carried out by TRAGSA took place Andalucia, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Galicia, Aragón, Extremadura and in the Canary Islands; the works corresponding to the Urgent Irrigation Plan and the E Plan represented 10% and 19%, respectively, of the production of Grupo TRAGSA.

Income after taxation of Grupo TRAGSA reached 59.5 Million Euros, which represent 3.8% of the turnover, being 8% lower than the year before, basically due to the higher operating costs provoked by the nature of some of the projects, the set up of provisions for potential risks, the sale of fixed assets made in 2008, and the decrease in financial income due to lower interest rates.
