Responsible management

SEPI is an Agent with management functions within the state-owned entrepreneurial sector, whose mission is to make profitable its entrepreneurial participations and orient all its activities taking into account the public interest, which makes it responsible of combining the objectives of economic and social profitability.

Beyond its initial nature of a mere Agent in charge of industrial policy, SEPI has been consolidated as an instrument for the economic and financial policy, maintaining a close relationship with the budgetary policy, which explains its being attached to the Ministry of Economics and Finance.

As a result of this role, SEPI develops a responsible social and economic management, promoting, coordinating and controlling the activity of the companies which are subject to its custody, and implementing in all of them the principles of entrepreneurial management, which are oriented towards their profitability.

That is why SEPI elaborates the strategies which each company requires according to its situation:

• For competitive enterprises and in a sound economic and financial position, the objective consists in consolidating and adding value to the projects, supporting their management and controlling their efficiency.
• For the loss-making enterprises, but which offer the potential of being feasible, reorganization plans are applied, which can guarantee their future , and providing the means required, in keeping with Spanish and EU legislation.
• For those which belong to industries in decline, action plans are adopted, which have been authorized by the European Union for their progressive adjustment.
• For those which are regarded as unfeasible or concluding their activity, orderly liquidation processes are carried out.
