Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales carries out an intense entrepreneurial promotion and development work, with actions which contribute to the economic and social recovery of specific areas in Spain in which industrial activity had declined, or in which it had not existed. SEPI's objective is to promote the creation of new investment and economic growth centers through a large transformation of all those areas without any activity.

In order to promote the creation of new enterprises, SEPI carries out three basic actions:

• Elimination of the rests of old industries or of the mining activities, and the environmental recovery of the lands.
• Development of the infrastructure required for creating modern business parks with the more up-to-date services and equipments.
• Raising new investments, oriented both to job creation and to the diversification of the industrial base of each region.

These activities are carried out basically in those areas in which took place the reorganization processes made during the seventies and eighties, and which mostly affected former industrial facilities or mining exploitations.

This economic reactivation policy is geared towards achieving a balanced regional development, which does not depend on the public sector, and SEPI carries it out through its company SEPIDES, whose actions in this field are focused on:

• Provision of industrial land and promotion of business parks
• Raising investments and providing aid to project financing
